Park Sung Tae

Aluminium Insect Screening
205 x 89cm

SGD53800. Showroom condition. Price quoted does not include shipping & crating charges. Park Sung Tae alludes to existence, evolution and life in his mesh forms - which create dynamic effects with the interplay of light and shadow. Alluding to imperfect man floating in space, immersed in meditation, he documents man’s hopes and dreams in a metaphysical realm. There is a juxtaposition of both the physical form and psychological essence.

  • +Artist Bio

Born in 1960 in Kwangiu, Korea, Park Sung-Tae graduated witha Masters of Fine Arts from the Graduate School of Seoul National University with a major in Oriental Painting in 1993. Since then, he has gone on to win many prestigious awards and has also exhibited extensively in Korea including an exhibition at the Ilmin Museum of Art. He recently began exhibiting internationally. In Park's work, shapes of people and animals made from aluminium mesh are both real and suggestive of the virtual, of the cloned being. Through their projected shadows, they reveal an existence in space that is real and unreal. The artist's work, however, doesn't project this precarious and tragic view by looking at the future as a dystopia triggered by modern science. That Park Sung-Tae would try to "draw space" with light in spite of his difficult subject is proof of his hope for a future bathed not in darkness, but in brightness. Read More
