About the artwork

In this work by Eva Armisen, a mother is depicted with her three children, in a portrait-style painting. The mother affectionately places her arms around her children’s shoulders, drawing them close to her, while her daughter similarly places her arm around her brother. The tender relationship the family members have is clearly reflected through their physical proximity, as well as the sweet smiles on their faces which highlight their joy at being together. The sense of contentment evident in this work is furthered by the floral pattern in the background, which evokes notions of vitality through the beautiful blooms. This charming painting illustrates a mother’s pride and love for her children, and captures the themes of love, family and togetherness that are found in Armisen’s works.
