About the artwork

In a magical flowery world, a family of four stands underneath a canopy of delicate flowers and colourful heart shapes. The figures, depicted in Coplu’s signature whimsical style, are enchanted by the beautiful yet highly untypical sunset, a sun in a heart-like shape descending on the horizon and painting it shades of pink and red. The only figure that is not gazing at the heart-shaped sun is entranced by another activity – watering a delicate, yet strong white flower – with a multitude of little hearts instead of water. Everything in this piece is magical, dream-like and unusual. Just like children engaged in play, Coplu reminds us of the joys of dreams and fantasies, which take us away from our daily worries into a wonderful world of harmony and happiness.

About the artist

Born in the Turkish town of Ushak, Coplu brought into the art world his distinctive style of cartoons, filled with warm and sentimental characters that range from silly to profound. Highly recognized and exhibited, the artist has won many competitions and accolades for his artworks and has been published in various media in Turkey, South East Asia and across Europe. He has also established an Open Air Cartoon Exhibition Space and the Cartoon School of Antalya. Part of many prestigious collections, the artist has been exhibited the world over, including France, Italy, the US, Germany and Spain.
