Though the signature erratic strokes, which may appear unstable, closer inspection reveals Min Yiyao's formation of a transient and tumultuous close-up of an androgynous head- tilting backwards, eyes closed, as if in a state of blissful disconnect. Parts of the image are missing, as if eroded, combining with the decrepit coloring to bring reference to its title- an air of desolation. The evanescence and deliberate ambiguity of the image draws the viewer in, offering abstract interpretation of the displacement and inherent loneliness it depicts.
