About the artwork
Adi Gunawan's "Leap of Togetherness" is a heartwarming bronze sculpture that encapsulates themes of love, family, and unadulterated fun, all while subtly challenging conventional body norms. The two distinct figures, rendered in Gunawan's signature rounded style, radiate joy and companionship. Their full forms, far from being a deviation, celebrate an embracing of diverse body shapes, inviting viewers to find beauty in every curve. A playful pop of yellow, in the form of a bright inflatable duck ring, offers a vibrant, contemporary contrast to the traditional bronze. This thoughtful addition underscores a sense of lightheartedness and the simple pleasures of shared moments, perhaps evoking childhood memories or the carefree spirit of a holiday. Gunawan masterfully conveys a deep familial bond and the delight of shared experiences, demonstrating how art can both comment on societal perceptions and evoke profound emotional connections with warmth and a touch of modern whimsy.
