About the artwork
This captivating piece, features a serene green backdrop, where nine koi fish gracefully swim. Presented on a circular canvas, features a vibrant depiction of nine koi fish, rendered with a rich, textural impasto technique. The fish, appearing almost three-dimensional, are arranged in a dynamic, circular composition, swimming around a central, elongated orange koi. The color palette is striking, showcasing a variety of koi patterns: classic white and red, black and white, and solid hues of red, orange, and two distinct shades of yellow. The artist’s use of thick, sculpted paint gives each fish a lifelike quality, emphasizing their scales and fins. The background is a swirling, textured green, perhaps representing water or lily pads, which further enhances the sense of movement and depth. The overall impression is one of harmony and abundance, characteristic of the symbolic meaning often associated with koi fish in many cultures.
