An almost three dimensional effect is obtained through the thick and heavy brush strokes of Ronnie Ford, that layer the acrylic onto canvas. In seeking harmonic balance between the use of strong colours, Ford concentrates on the essence of what he is painting, focusing on the key energies of a life force rather than the perfect mimicry of its physical presence. Capturing the spirit of the scene, Ford presents nature by marrying contrasting yet complimentary tones. His treatment of colour is lively and exciting; a brilliant blue sky highlights the red of a poppy field; golden sunflowers are bright against subdued lavender and deep azure. About the artist

Ronnie Ford was born in Dunoon, Scotland and studied at the Glasgow School of Art. He is a full-time professional artist who launched his career with sell-out shows in Hong Kong and London. He has built a strong international presence with successful group and solo shows in Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore and the USA. Ronnie's work is in private, public and corporate collections worldwide, including the French Consulate, Hong Kong, Bank of South Australia, Strathclyde University, NHS Scotland. His work has appeared on television several times, was used as a major component of an MTV music video by Canto-pop and film star, Sammi Cheng and has won multiple awards.
