About the artwork
A tribute to Van Gogh's "Almond Blossoms", this painting shines with its white blossoms. The blossoms represented hope and awakening for Van Gogh, and he painted them to celebrate the birth of his nephew Vincent. Inspired by the delicacy of Japanese woodcuts (especially Hiroshige), Vincent Van Gogh expressed in his painting a sense of freedom and optimism that stands out from the rest of his oeuvre. Ronnie Ford is reinterpreting this famous painting with his own three-dimensional technique, sharing the optimism with the viewer.
