About the artwork
Starting his official art career at an age of 83, Yu Loon Ching showcases his gallant approach to the practice. Yu has been active in making art throughout his life, creating pieces of masterful works despite being a self-taught artist. This passion for art is engraved in his resilience in the use of delicate ball-point pen strokes to create an alluring visual. Yu pioneered this new method of art making - a new ‘painting’ style that obtains influence from the impressionist and pointillist artists. With lines, dapples and stipples, Yu recreates landscape sceneries native to Southeast-Asia, relieving the spirit of the place where he was born and bred. Paddy Field is an earnest work by the experienced and accomplished artist that captures these essence.
