About the artwork
Jantzen is intrigued by the relationship between light and darkness, and explores this in this work, in which the intimacy of the piece conveyed through seductive tones of red and pink blush. He dabbles with focus in order to create a vestige of depth, as upon closer inspection the indistinct overall image contains a myriad of smaller standalone worlds, enhancing the connection and dialogue between image and viewer. The artist seeks to confront and elicit discussion about privacy in the modern age, and whilst observing this piece one begins to realize the intention of Jantzen’s work - that “the closer you get, the more you realise and the less you see”, a contradiction that leaves the viewer with further thoughts to ponder.
