Blind Line (盲行)
Oil on Canvas, 120 x 160 cm
About the artwork
With increasing ambiguity and new perspectives to his representations, Deng Cheng Wen's latest series displays maturity of thought and skill. The blend of aesthetics and the theoretical is commendable, Deng willingly breaks the tradition of avoidance of the unsavoury in Chinese culture and provides insight into the sentiments of burdened and misguided youth of today. ‘Blind Line’ also brings about considerations of conformity and calls into question the effect of our decisions and behaviour.
