LP-Reading Simulacrum, 2012
Acrylic on Canvas, 200 x 190 cm
About the artwork
Translated as 'Reading Image', this haunting piece by Indra Wahyu reflects upon the dreams of children and the eventual dissipation of their artistic pursuits. Employing a close attention to detail in spite of his seemingly spontaneous strokes, the artist uses symbols from everyday life to show the claustrophobic nature of modern society and its underlying pressures that ultimately take every child away from their idealistic dreams and into the harsh realities of the outside world.
