Steel Mesh, 79 x 15 x 64 cm
USD 9,400 – 13,500
About the artwork
(Female Front Male Front.) This work by David Begbie depicts two truncated sculptures of the human form, that are depicted within physical proximity of each other. Begbie demonstrates his masterful artistic skill as a sculptural draughtsman, as the shapes are exquisitely outlined, capturing both the solid nature of the human form as well as its simultaneous delicacy. Through his use of steel mesh, this creates an iridescent fabric, with a fluttering sheen that is wantonly voluptuous, harsh yet silky, both at once. David Begbie weaves for imperial nakedness an optical garment, which is more illusory and stylish than ever.
