About the artwork
This captivating sculpture by Rainer Lagemann depicts a figure in motion, sprinting towards an unknown destination. Using small hollow steel squares, the artist produces a freeze-frame of powerful gestures and emotions that demonstrate the velocity of human movement, while the figure’s dynamic pose creates a sense of thrilling tension for the viewer. Skilfully sculpting the body’s curves and contours, Rainer turns steel into flesh with delicate detail and transience that transcends the limits of its material.
