The Fleeting Years 轻飘的岁月, 2014
Ink on Paper, 68 x 45 cm
About the artwork
Deng Cheng Wen depicts his main character with eyes concealed by the person behind him. He raises his hands to his face, with an expression of amusement and laughter. Unwilling to face the harshness of reality, these youth revel in the fleeting years of following the system blindly - not having to think for themselves and make strategic decisions. He is surrounded by a mass of murky colour, an ominous foreshadowing of the potential troubles to be faced in future.
