About The Artist

Zheng Yukui was born in 1964 and graduated from Shandong Academy of Light Industry & Fine Arts, majoring in Pottery & Porcelain in 1985.  Then he further studied in the Create & Research Institute of Sculpture in Central Academy of Art and graduated in 1989.  He is now a member of Professional Sculpture of Chinese Industrial Art Association and a foreign member of New Zealand Northern Pottery Artist Association.Zheng uses traditional Chinese ceramic art to describe a theme of play and nostalgia, and down-to-earth realities of rural China. The naughty face and doll-like body of his ceramic figures are representation of childhood memory and folk culture. Many pieces of Zheng Yukui’s artworks have been collected by galleries both in China and abroad, as well as private collectors.  His works are also quite popular and highly praised in Europe, where he participated in communion activities of art and sculpture in 2004.
