故国-颂3# - Ode to Motherland No.3
Copperplate, Bronze, 140 x 41 x 152 cm
About the artwork
This rare artwork from the 'Ode' series is visibly unique among Cai Zhisong's sculptures. Composed of copper plates, the discoloration and uneven shades of the figure's two-dimensional, simply-shaped robe suggestions antiquity and contrasts Cai's usual style of carefully detailed sculpture. The baldness of three-dimensional bronze head that sits upon it, gleams eerily above what appears to be the worn, resigned expression of an ancient being.
