About the artwork
This impressive bronze sculpture pays homage to the significant role this animal plays in ancient Indonesia. Specifically, how war horses were deployed during ancient times when war broke out among kingdoms scattered across Indonesia’s archipelago. Perhaps Tjokordo intends to carve this victorious symbol to show his reverence towards the historical tribute the horse signifies. Here, the leaping stance, red mane, dynamic texture instills zest in the stillness of the sculpture.
