About the artwork
In these vast fields, Sunarto’s masterful impasto technique shines through. The landscape appears endless, filled with a vibrant yellow as the wheat fields are ready for harvest. Inspired by his own life growing up in rural Indonesia, Sunarto’s work captures the agrarian life in a beautiful way, transporting the viewer into a peaceful, more idyllic landscape. With the only sign of human life being the harvesters, with their little hats standing out against the density of the crops, ‘Harvest #1’ is truly a sight of agrarian beauty.
