About the artwork

Colourful and expressive, American artist David Kracov’s beloved art resonates like a wonderful celebration of life. In this work, numerous individually laser-cut butterflies form the shape of a guitar, and the multitude of colours and patterns of the butterflies creates a vibrant visual spectacle for the viewer. To David, butterflies are a symbol of life and its delicate nature, and every butterfly he creates represents an individual life. Thus through this work, David Kracov illustrates how we can come together, regardless of differences in physical appearance or cultural background, to create beautiful music in the world. David’s works are beloved by collectors worldwide, and are included in the collections of several of Hollywood’s elite entertainers, including Steven Spielberg, Matt Damon and Judy Sheindlin.

About the artist

Known as the youngest artist ever to showcase in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, David Kracov built his portfolio since the age of 12 and received his degree from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. Creator of the world-famous sculpture commissioned by the Holocaust Museum of St Petersburg, David now adds at least one butterfly to every piece that he creates, as a trademark and tribute to the delicacy and value of children’s lives. Sculptor, painter, and animator, he has helped shape landmark movies like The Lion King and The Swan Princess. He is also a pioneer of ‘Life Saving Art’.
