About the artwork

Hong Sek Chern shifts from showcasing areas further afield to locations in Singapore, portraying the Central Business District with its mass of financial and commercial buildings of all shapes and sizes that extend into the sky. More densely packed than most areas, these buildings ring the bay and form a distinctive part of the Singapore skyline. The pockets of space that represent the windows of the glass towers vary in colour, similar to the lights of the offices that are switched on and off - forming a perforated pattern across the surfaces of the buildings at night. The 43-storey high Ocean Financial Centre is just one tower in a sea of glass.
