About the artwork
Mong Kok is both a residential and shopping district that is located in Hong Kong. The streets of the area are usually bustling with tourists and locals, who frequent the famous neighbourhood landmarks such as the Ladies' Market. It has been said that one can find almost anything, from electronics to cosmetics to goldfish, in these streets. In a break from her usual brown and black hues, Hong Sek Chern injects blue, green and purple into this composition. The buildings themselves seem to be suspended in the air in a whimsical dream - some buildings are even depicted upside down, distorting one's perspective.
