About the artwork

The works of Spanish artist Eva Armisen often touch on subjects such as family, love and togetherness, which are encapsulated in this work, that depicts a family enjoying a dinner party in a garden. The vibrant red checkered print of the table cloth that spreads horizontally across the canvas immediately catches the viewer’s eye, drawing them into the work. This sense of vibrancy is reinforced by the different colours and whimsical patterns of the family’s clothing, as well as the myriad of different food items on the table. The lush greenery in the background generates a feeling of warmth, that reflects the sense of contentment felt by the family as they sit with sweet smiles on their faces. Humorously, in this family, even their dog has a seat at the table! Armisen’s charming work highlights the joy of spending time with loved ones, and reminds us to treasure such moments in our lives.
