About the artwork
Sold ref Ting Wu Qiong depicts four children with arms around each other, marching forward in unison. Education in China is perceived as the key means for rising up in society and adding to the prosperity of the nation, thus the children who go through the education system bear the weight of expectations of ancestors, family and the country. Their existence seems to serve a purpose beyond leading lives that fulfil themselves alone, thus causing them to lose their individuality and exist as a collective group that marches forward in the name of public duty.
