About the artwork

The endangerment of Rhinos in China is expressed through a religious formation titled, “Big Pagoda”. A rhino’s horn is valued for its medicinal potency, thus the slaughtering of rhinos and legal governmental sanction makes this animal an endangered species in the mainland of China. Perhaps the red hues complementing grey backdrop expresses the bloodshed and grim aftermath if nothing is done to advocate the safety of these creatures. Perhaps it is Hong Xiang’s painting that sheds hope for the collective to take a stand.
