About the artwork
Gao Xiao Wu's series of works titled "Our Generation" is a representation of Gao's late adolescence. This sculpture, "Thank You", is one of Gao's showcases a young man on his knees, clad in office wear with his hands spread out and a wide smile across his face. Gao uses this sculpture to demonstrate how he is grateful for the professional success he has received in life. The unusual number of fingers on his hands exemplify the depth and sincerity of his gratitude while his bent-knee posture proclaims humility and respect for those responsible for his success. Once again, Gao makes use of exaggerated poses and features to convey his message in a light-hearted and comical manner.
