About the artwork

The core of this installation is in the play of forms, lighting, and space. Bahk creates an abstract form hanging in space, with the sense of its rapid descend. Although the form is incomprehensible, one would relate to a natural phenomena, an instinctive tangibility that appeals to our innate humanity. The composition of charcoal, its expanse and clutters creates the illusion of speed and movement. At the form’s spearheaded front, bold chunks of charcoal sediments together to create the sensation of weight, while trails of sparse pieces strew behind to enhance the impression of its acceleration. A bowl sits directly under it as part of the installation, completing the comprehensive arrangement of elements, vital in Bahk’s works.
