About The Artist

An artist of Thai heritage, the Eastern elements to Kashashiva’s works are intricate and woven seamlessly into his diverse styles that bridge pastel hues, Pop vivacity, Impressionist forests and figures hewn with grace that echo nude Classicism. What may describe a number of artists from various disciplines is remarkably what defines the work of just one man. Blending together distinct elements of Western and Eastern art, the artist creates visions of conceptual fluidity that ebb and flow with consciousness, dissipating and reuniting in unison with the compartmentalized visuals that constitute it. A jack of all trades and master of aesthetics - these are the works of Kanakorn Kashashiva.

Thai art has long held a tradition of two dimensional depictions where primary elements are kept isolated through the use of transformative space. Using this as his canvas of composition, the artist then creates his imagery in distinctly Western styles, with his dark green foliage bringing to mind the fantastic worlds of Rousseau, and his patterned segmentation ringing clearly of Pop technique. The resulting meld is a stunning aesthetic that carries a porcelain sheen of delicate perfection while still carving out contours of a determined brush stroke. The artist also maintains a deliberate and eye-catching colour palette which communicates a tonality of serenity that manifests in itself, allowing the vivid components to command attention as individual spaces. The artist creates this effect through constant contrast, colour blocking with the illusion of negative space and rounding off his brightest hues with translucence. This remarkable coalescence of colour executed through his distinct use of both blended and evident strokes, allows for images that draw the eye to every edge and detail, while harmonizing its elements into an en masse feast for the senses.

Conceptually, the subjects of Kashashiva’s works ring of ethereal places and spaces, with some characters that deny representation into almost surrealist boundaries. While maintaining figurative consistency in his subjects, the communicative feel of the artist’s works is most often strongly communicated from the surroundings his subjects find themselves in. The imaginative otherworldly aspect is then set off by the expressions and gestures he chooses to employ, with superficial detailing adding context to the era or modernity his work takes place in.

In short, the art rings true to the artist’s greatest influences; it carries the aesthetic and depth that Impressionism strives towards and the evocative communication that Pop has come to embody. A journey of mind and senses, the impressive coalition of concept and aesthetic is significant in the variety of impressions it may create on a viewer, making it a collection that not only pursues, but demands your attention.

The Pop Digressions of Knakorn Kachacheewa

An artist of Thai heritage, the Eastern elements to Kachacheewa's works are intricate and woven seamlessly into his divertive style. Thai art has long held a tradition of two dimensional depictions where primary elements are kept isolated through the use of transformative space. Using as his canvas of composition, the artist then creates his imagery in distinctly Western styles, with his dark green foliage bringing to mind the fantastic worlds of Rousseau, and his patterned segmentation ringing clearly of Pop technique. The resulting meld is a stunning aesthetic that carries a porcelain sheen of delicate perfection while still carving out contours of a determined brush stroke. Kachacheewa reinvents older forms, bringing them into the present. He achieves the surrealist aim of making the familiar seem foreign, in part by making surrealism itself seem novel and excitingly strange.
